The Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift is a legendary Hollywood film especially for car lovers because it successfully showcased Japanese car culture.
Japan is a known car manufacturing country because you will get insane reliability in almost every Japanese car they offer great tuning and modification options as well. In the decade of 1990s and 2000s drifting culture was very popular among car lovers in Japan, Tokyo Drift movie successfully showcased this Drifting culture and for drifting you need a powerful car which is why in this movie they showcased many powerful cars and supercars from the world’s renowned brands and most of them are from Japanese Car Brands.
Tokyo Drift movie showcased some 200 cars but in Today’s blog I will be sharing with you my favourite Top 10 Best Tokyo Drift Cars so let’s begin:

10- Nissan Silvia S15 Spec R Tokyo Drift:
First in our Tokyo Drift list is Japanese brand Nissan’s car Silvia, this cool sports car somewhat looks like the Toyota Supra. It was launched in 1965 but production stopped in 1968 Nissan relaunched this car in 1975 and then produced it until 2002 and this time it gained popularity.
The S15 Spec R version of this car was shown in the movie, this version was launched in 1999, and it was powered by a 2.0 Litre I4 Turbo engine that can produce 247 horsepower. This car can go from 0-60 mph in just 5.40 seconds and its top speed was 155 mph (249.4 kph). You can still buy a good-condition Nissan Silvia from used car markets usually they sell at the average price of $18000.
09- 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback Tokyo Drift:
Ford Mustang has been everyone’s favourite sports car since its launch, its older versions also have very cool designs like this 1967 Ford Mustang used in Tokyo Drift. In this movie, they used a 2.6-litre twin-turbo engine from a 2001 Nissan Skyline RB26 and also they used a transmission from a 1998 Nissan Skyline 5 Speed 2WD car.
This Modified Mustang from Tokyo Drift is equipped with a V8 engine that’s why this car produces 375 horsepower can go from 0-60 mph in just 6.7 seconds and can run the quarter mile in 14.7 seconds at 96.7 mph, this car was driven by Sean Boswell in a movie.
8- 2002 Volkswagen Golf R32 Tokyo Drift:
This compact car was not available in Japan and Japan uses right-hand cars so filmmakers requested Volkswagen to make a right-hand car specially for this movie and they agreed. Initially, Volkswagen offered them 4 new Golf R32 cars and two of them were converted to rear-drive just for drifting.
Although this car looks smaller it was very powerful because it was equipped with a 3.2 litre V6 engine with six-speed manual transmission. This car can go from 0-60 mph in just 6.1 seconds and runs a quarter mile in 14.4 seconds at 94.3 mph.
7- 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Tokyo Drift:
Another vintage and beautiful car in Tokyo Drift was the 1970s Plymouth Road Runner, this car has only about 2 minutes of screen time but it was driven by the very important character Dominic Torretto (played by Vin Diesel). This car was borrowed by famous car builder Steve Strope from Pure Vision Design.
This car is so powerful because it has a 6.2 Litre V8 engine under its trunk and some other stuff to increase its power that’s why this car can produce 335 horsepower.
6- 2004 Mazda RX-8 Tokyo Drift:
One of the very beautiful cars in Tokyo Drift, it was designed for female lead character Neela. This car was first introduced at the North American International Auto Show in 2001 it was inspired by its predecessor Mazda RX7.
This sports car has sleek design, this car has 191 horsepower of power output at 5500 rpm, this Tokyo Drift RX-8 can go from 0-60 mph in just 6.7 seconds and completes the quarter mile run in 14.8 seconds at 103.6 mph.
5- 2005 Volkswagen Touran 1 Tokyo Drift:
Another car by Volkswagen which gained our attraction in this movie was the 2005 Volkswagen Touran 1. In the movie this car has a funny Hulk design with a 3d punch on its body, this car in real life is equipped with a 1.9 Liter TDI engine which can produce 101 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. This car has a top speed of 124 mph (200kph)
4- 2003 Nissan Fairlady Z Z33 Tokyo Drift:
This car featured in Tokyo Drift was first launched in Japan in the year 2002, this car was driven by the character D.K. (or Drift King). This is one of the best looking Fast and Furious Car in the movie, they opted for Nissan’s famous VQ35DE engine which is a 3.5 Liter V6 engine and with some other modifications this was rumoured to provide around 460 horsepower. But in real life Nissan Fairlady gives around 300 horsepower.
3- 1997 Mazda RX-7 Veilside FD Tokyo Drift:
Another Mazda in our list from Tokyo Drift is a modified version of the original 1997 Mazda RX-7 it was modified by Japan’s one biggest aftermarket company Veilside, this car looks very cool and sporty but not so powerful because it produces only 306 horsepower which isn’t justify its sports car looks. This car can go from 0-60 mph in just 6 seconds and in 14.1 seconds it completes quarter mile at 104.5 mph.
2- 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR :
Another Japanese brand’s car in our list of Tokyo Drift cars in Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution IX GSR, this car was also driven by Sean Boswell. In the film car was very changed from its real-life version because for drifting they shifted power from front to rear wheels so it became rear rear-wheel drive car and its wheels were replaced by bigger 19 by 8.5 inch Ray-G Games 99B wheels.
They also done many other modifications and gave this car very sporty looks. They also changed is engine and added a turbocharger 2.0 litre four cylinder engine that’s why its horsepower was also increased and Tokyo Drift’s version produces around 286 horsepower.
1- 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo:
This American vintage car featured in Tokyo Drift was one of the main cars in the first quarter of the movie. Over 9 Monte Carlo cars were used in the movie and according to some sources two out of these nine Monte Carlo have very powerful 560 horsepower engines which can go from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and the other one has power of 700 horsepower and these also are rear wheel drive cars because you know DRIFT.
